"Lob-sided Vase"
Dimensions (6 x 3 x 10.5 inches)
List Media (Materials) Used
Clay
Glaze
This piece of work was mostly inspired by early times in the world. Seeing early stages of the world do pottery inspired me to make my own and try something new out. As far as materials I used, it was only two things, figuring clay into a sculpture, then glazing it with a few coats to give it that smooth-shiny look, then finally putting in the kiln to pop out the colors and smoothness to the piece of art, giving it that final touch. Challenges I faced were obviously figuring the clay into the shape I wanted it, this was hard because I had never done this before so it was a challenge.
"Mug"
Dimensions (5.4 x 3.4 x 4.3 inches)
List Media (Materials) Used
Clay
Glaze
I wanted to make a mug so that I could actually use it for my purpose. All of my years of doing art, you usually think of the mug of a starter pottery sculpt. So it's pretty cool to see my progress throughout the years on the same sculpting ideas. Only used two materials. Clay and glaze. Did about 4 layers of glaze all around to give it that shiny slick look. Challenges weren't bad, pretty straight forward and to the point artwork.
"Wheel Work"
List Media (Materials) Used
Clay
Glaze
So with all of these pieces of work. I basically was just learning how to use the wheel and trying to get the hang of it. I wanted to get that vase look with the 3 sculptures that you see; just by taking my hand and trying to form it into that sort of shape.Â
"Owl"
List Media (Materials) Used
Clay Slip
Glaze
The owl, this is called a clay mold. You take the slip from excess clay and pour it into a shape of anything you really want. I choose an owl. I thought it turned out well and no really challenging problems. I only put about 2 coats of glaze onto it, and it turned out just fine.
