My idea is a hippo walking down a grassy hill. I got the idea from my love for hippos and I wanted to challenge myself with all the details. First my idea was to make the hippo colored but I think all the detail would be better with black and white. My process starts with a paper and making boxes to know where to begin. Then I make the hippo basic outline and start on the legs. Next I erase the boxes and make smaller details. When detailing I also shade the body. last making some better and bigger details in the eye and the whole head. The tools I used are 5 pencils with different shades, blending sticks, and a knead eraser. Some techniques I used was shading, and blending. This artwork doesn't really have a meaning or symbolism, but is a way for me to challenge myself. I want my audience to think that my drawing looks like a hippo. So far the most difficult thing about this drawing is the keeping the best details while erasing the worst. I still deal with erasing struggle and just remake the better details again. If I could restart my drawing I would make it in color like I first intended. I would say my style is realistic. I like the middle leg and how the eye looks. I also like the different shades.
