Modeling Clay, IMovie
2020
Our idea was to recreate the famous story that is David vs Goliath. We got this idea because we are both big fans of this story and the bible itself. We got our idea mainly from the bible but we also got inspiration from the David art statues. Our process was to make the different figures, then add some props to help finish off the story. We used different types of sharp tool to get the shapes and sizes that we needed. Our artwork does not really mean anything, we just want people to laugh and have a good time watching our little masterpiece. The most difficult thing was getting the figures to stand, because the more you move around modeling clay, the softer it gets. We overcame this challenge by cutting thick metal wires to put inside the the body to make it so we could move the arms and legs and even feet. If we had the chance to start over I would probably just reshoot the video and maybe get better pictures and take more pictures to make it a little longer. This form of art is both realism and abstract because we wanted to have a lot of color put into the clay figures but this event happened long ago. This matches my art style because some things are very detailed but it's also funny. I love how the characters look and I also loved doing this with my best friend.

My first idea was to make a duck, but as I was connecting all the pieces, it started to look like a goose and I thought that was funny. I got my idea from other pieces that were animal teapots, I thought about it and I thought it would be a good idea to do a Duck. But as I was building it together I thought it looked more like a goose so that's what I stuck with. First I had to build my base so I cut all the pieces out and attached them together. Then I went onto the neck and head and other details. Then I made the mugs and then after they were dried and fired. I picked my glaze colors and glazed them on. Then I let the glaze dry and then it was fired again and boom, a masterpiece came out of it. This artwork does not mean or reference anything but a goose with a blue cowboy hat. I want people to think my artwork is funny and I hope it just gives them a laugh. The most difficult thing to do was to build the neck. I needed and wanted the neck to be long and it was really hard to make it stand up without falling over but it worked out well. I overcame it by cutting a piece out of a paper towel roll and placing it to support the neck and head. I would change nothing about my. piece because I love it with all my heart and his nickname is Francis. This art style is abstract and realistic because it looks like a goose but it also has some bright colors making it more abstract. It's also my style of art because it has bright colors and its funny because of his face and the fact that it looks like he's screaming. I love everything the shape, the colors, the mugs, everything is what I love about it.

My first idea with this piece was to make a hand coming out of the ground. But it evolved into making a super hero's hand coming out of the ground. My inspiration was super hero's, I loved hero's as I was growing up and I thought it would be a cool idea. First I had to trace my hand and then cut it out then I had to make another hand and place them on top of each other but then I need pieces in between to thicken them. Then I made the base and the little roots poking out and then I let them dry then they got fired. Then I chose my color of glaze and glazed the hand. Then it got fired again and then I had to write this artist statement. The only thing that this would mean is that you should never give up unless you absolutely cannot win. I want my audience to think that you should never give up unless you absolutely cannot win whatever the challenge is. The most difficult part of this piece was connecting the hand and making it thicker. To overcome that I made thick strips and made it hollow on the inside. I would change nothing about this if I had to start over. This type of art is abstract and surreal. It's abstract because of the bright colors but it's also surreal because they is no real super hero's who fly around and destroy evil. This is my art style mainly because it's bright with many colors. I love how it's my hand shape and size and I love all the bright and different variety of colors.

My idea was to make a little basket with a handle and make it small. I got my idea just out of my top of my head and it evolved by putting a smiley face on it. First I made the square cup shape and then I added the handle. Then I let it dry then it was fired and then I glazed the smiley face on it and then I glazed the rest of it. Then it was fired and then it turned out to be pretty good. I had to use many tools to get the right shapes and sizes, I used a rolling pin, a scalpel, and some other things. This artwork means that even if you're a bucket, you should stay positive and happy. I want people who see this to smile and be happy and think of it as a pretty good bucket. The biggest challenge was having the glaze not drip down to ruin the smiley face. I had to use small amounts of glaze and that made the process longer but it was worth it. I would change nothing about it because the smiley face and the colors are perfect. This style of artwork is abstract and non-objective because the colors make it pop and it's just very simple and easy to make. What makes it unique to my style is that I'm always happy and I usually always have a good attitude. I love the smiley face because it is a nice bright yellow and it just looks so happy.
