Artist Statement : Caden D. “ summer road “ - pencil, colored pencil
My idea was to have a road up on an elevated bath. On both sides of the elevated path there would be oceans for miles and miles out. I got this idea from my family taking trips to Florida a lot during the winter, and most of the surroundings in Florida or where we stayed was lots and lots of ocean. I named it summer road because when you're in Florida it feels like it's summer 24/7. The only tools I used were pencil, pen, and then colored pencil. In most of my artworks including this one I usually draw the artwork in pencil, then outline it in pen, and last color in the areas with your choice of colored pencils. The artwork is just peace. I want people to look at it and think about summer, the ocean and beach smell, the breeze, ECT. The most difficult thing for me was getting the road to be straight the entire time up the page. It took a lot of practice for me. If I could start over or change some things I would add some birds in the distance and maybe some palm trees. Instead of just road and water. The art style is realistic. The only thing that is different about my drawing is that I'm not that good at drawing realistic, it almost looks like a cartoon, but I still like it.
Artist Statement : Caden D. “ classic “ - pencil, pen, sharpie
My idea for this project was to make it kinda like a comic book looking page, but just with my all time favorite movies. The page would be cut up into sections with the words in the middle. I just got the idea from how comic books look with sections of different pictures with space in between them. I first used the ruler to divide out all the sections and colored in the lines with a pencil. Then I found as many movies as boxes were in the drawing and drew them in the center. I then wrote “ my classics “ on the bottom in a sharpie and colored it in. The artwork doesn't really mean anything, it just shows different sections of my favorite movies. When people see it, it's intended to look like a comic book but in my own way with movies and not pictures. The most difficult part was just centering everything up and coloring it in. The line you have to stay in to color is super small on both sides so it’s time-consuming. If I could start over I would make the pencil parts sharpie, and the sharpie part pencil just to give it a different bolder look. This kind of art is abstract / objective., Lots of words, and shapes a lot of the time. What makes it unique to my own style is it has a lot of words. Most drawings are of a picture and not words but mine often have pictures and words. What I love about the artwork is how straight the lines came out even after I had to color them in.
Artist Statement : Caden D. Printmaking Beach - Pencil, Pen, Paint
My idea is having a lone tree on top of a little island in the middle of the beach. The beach is surrounded on all sides by water. And there are sea shells scattered around the tree. I got the Idea from the spongebob island but instead I added more details like shells, birds, and a sun. I took a pen and drew the image of the beach. After I drew the image I had to trace it 3 times for it to get deep enough to print press. Once that was done, I painted the picture black, and pressed it on red paper. My artwork is peaceful. When people look at it I want them to think of a sunset on the beach. The most difficult part was trying to figure out what details to add because it's such a small picture with not alot of objects in it. If I could start over I would make the picture way bigger. This is a realistic style of art. My own style is not exactly perfect but it's good enough to know how it is.
