My idea for this artwork was to combine sports with nature. I wanted to show a Bo Nix in an unusual setting instead of just on a field. I got the idea because football is something I enjoy, but I also like outdoor scenery such as mountains, rivers, and forests. At first, I thought of only drawing the player, but then I added the landscape to make the piece more creative and interesting. It was inspired by how athletes can feel powerful and unstoppable.
I first sketched the mountains, river, trees, and player in pencil. Then I outlined the player to make him stand out more from the background. After that, I used colored pencils to shade the mountains, trees, and river. I used brighter blue for the water so it would be the main focus. I also used layering and blending techniques to give the landscape more depth.
Bo Nix symbolizes hard work and confidence, while the mountains represent challenges that athletes must overcome. The river can symbolize the journey through life or sports, always moving forward. I want viewers to think about how sports and nature both require discipline, and focus.
The most difficult part for me was drawing the human body proportions and making the player look realistic. It was also challenging to blend the background smoothly. I overcame these struggles by taking my time, and using references. If I started over, I would add more detail to the player and make the shadows stronger for more realism.
This piece is mostly realistic with some surreal elements because a football player standing in a mountain river is not a normal scene. What makes it unique to my style is combining sports themes with dramatic settings. I love how the bright river contrasts with the muted mountains and helps guide the viewer’s eye through the composition
My idea for this artwork was to create a Dexter Morgan mugshot. I wanted to capture a serious expression and make the figure look intense and mysterious. The idea came from the show Dexter.
I started by lightly sketching the face shape and body proportions in pencil. Then I added facial features and focused on shading the shadows around the jawline, neck, and hair. I used pencil blending and pressure control to create darker values and contrast. The background lines were added afterward to look like a height chart. I also carefully erased highlights to make the face stand out.
This artwork can represent judgment, identity, and how people are seen by society. A mugshot often only shows one moment in a person’s life, but it does not explain their whole story. The serious face and upward gaze symbolizes regret.
The hardest part was drawing realistic facial proportions and shading the face correctly. Faces are difficult because small mistakes can change the whole expression. I improved by measuring carefully, using guidelines, and blending shadows more smoothly. If I redid this piece, I would spend more time refining the hands and making the text sharper.
This piece is realistic portrait art because it focuses on lifelike shading and anatomy. What makes it unique to my style is the dramatic contrast and storytelling element. I love how the shadows create mood and make the portrait feel powerful and emotional.
