Bobby's Painting 2
Bobby Burken "Baseline watercolor "
8.5 x 11, watercolor, 2022
My Idea was based off of those 3d drawing illusions you see online. I used the paintbrush and varied amount of water to get the consistently I wanted. I picked a rubik's cube to be the object because it could be a blank slate for any combination. I struggled with the shadows a bit. They just wouldn’t stay where I wanted. I tried to make it in a realistic style with a unique point of view.
Bobby Burken "Lonely Rock"
8 x 10, acrylic paint, 2022
I got the Idea from Pink Floyd’s song Eclipse. I painted the background then painted over with the details. I wanted to create an image to show the solitude of our planet. The thing I struggled with the most was getting the details correct on the earth. I’d say it’s a realistic art style. I tried to make it my own by giving it a unique point of view. The thing I like the most is how the earth turned out.
Bobby Burken "Shuttled"
9 x 12, acrylic paint, 2022
I got the idea when I wanted a painting to go with my "Lonely Rock” painting. First I did a sketch over a black background then I painted over it. I tried to create a story of some astronauts seeing the sunrise from their shuttle above earth. The thing I found most difficult about this painting was trying to paint the lens flair and the outline of the earth. I wanted to make it in a realistic type style but I wanted to get it in a third person perspective.
Bobby Burken "Road Burn"
4.5ft by 4.5ft , Mixed Media, 2022
I got the idea when I crashed my car the week before. First I painted the entire canvas gray. I tried to create a story of a car crash location. The thing I found most difficult about this painting was trying to get the items to stay on. I wanted to make it in a realistic type style but I wanted to get it in a third person perspective.
