Bobby's Painting1

Bobby Burken "Elijah"

9 x 10, acrylic, 2021

I got my Idea from needing to paint a portrait for class. I was listening to this person on youtube so I painted them. I first made a rough sketch of her and then I painted over it. There's no deep physiological meaning behind it, it was my first painting and i just wanted it to look good. I think I did well for my first painting. The hardest parts was the gradient on the chair and the shadows on her face. This painting is in a realistic style.

Bobby Burken "Stripes"

9 x 10, acrylic, 2021

I got the idea for this from the zebra itself. The zebra’s stripes allow it to blend in with the other zebras around it making it hard for predators to catch them. First I painted the canvas white then I transferred the image to it and painted it. This piece uses natures natural camouflage to create a psychedelic effect. I think It looks good, I was able to get the zebra visible and distinguishable. I’d say this is a mix of realistic and surreal. I quite like how the zebra came out.
