Vegeta (character above) has always been my favorite character from the show Dragon Ball, I enjoy the art style used in the show and wanted to make something of my own while embodying the style, in this drawing Vegeta is fighting his longtime rival: Goku (character on the right)
Starting this drawing I looked up the characters, I wanted to keep the original style while also making it my own, and my idea for my drawing was an action-packed fight, so I looked and many different angles of the characters to get the shapes and shading right, I drew Vegeta first, and Goku after in the foreground, after getting the sketch perfect I went over the drawing in sharpie and finished shading.
Vegeta is headstrong and prideful, while Goku is resilient and goodhearted, but both love to fight. For this image I'd like those who look at it to see the emotion on each character's face, the will to win, and the movement in their bodies holding nothing back. The same ideology can be used in everyday life, pushing through challenges no matter what obstacle is in front of you.
I'd say the most challenging part was the sharpie and the shading, controlling a thicker marker without messing up the original sketch definitely had me taking my time, but looking back I wouldn't change a thing, I think it looks great with the style.
This art is cartoon-realism, I’d say the part of the drawing that makes it me is that I grew up watching this show, seeing the character changes, and enjoying every fight they had, to be able to create one that seems true to the characters is like a blast from the past.

I first came about the idea for this drawing by wanting to draw a skull, I like the natrual shading on the skull and thought it would be a fun challenge to draw a detailed one on charcoal paper. After the skull was done I wanted to draw a spine, but I thought I could make it more unique, so I used the spinal segments to mak a centipede.
I began with charcoal black paper and started sketching the skull with regualar pencil so I could get it just right before outlining it, then I outined and shaded the skull and centipede with white pencil.
I began this work with no other thought then "This looks cool", but as I continued the art I began to give it meaning. For me this art represents secrecy and illusion, from the base of the skull it looks like basic human annatomy, but as you look at the rest its a large centipede that lives in the skull.
I would say the most difficult part of this drawing was the shading, using no reference I had to decide what angle the light was supposed to come from and how the skull should reflect that. I would not change anything about this drawing.
I would call this and abstract piece, linking two very different aspects of life from the world to create one piece, I feel like this matches my style of detailed abstract art.
