Caden Parketon "Pitcher in Nature"

Stoneware & Glass, 8x8x8," 2023

I thought the idea for a detailed pitcher was cool, and wanted to bring nature into the design, by adding certain colors I made the pitcher appear to be made of plants.

I filled the mold with clay and once it was dry, colored the outside with bronze and white glaz to get the pumpkin to appear ripe, then colored the leaves with light green and bronze to show the the pumpkin is still on the vine.

I belive my art is a good representation of found nature, that we take a lot of what we get naturally for granted, and we can live off the land just as easily as we could 300 years ago. My art is a pretty piece that shows that we should protect the world we live in.

The little details that I had to smooth out and clean up was difficult, and the colors were a little tough to make sure looked right, with my idea the colors had to be perfect.

I would label this art as surreal, even though its kinda simple, its pretty and has a meaning to it.

Caden Parketon "Defensive Tackle"

Stoneware & Acrylic, 12x9x12" 2023

I wanted to sculpt a passion of mine as a self portrait, so i made a bust of me in my Saber football uniform, being true to the home colors we wear and the design on my helmet.

I started with the wrapping of the clay around by cardboard base, and bulding up, making sure to sculpt according yo my pad size the the width of my shoulders. For the paint I used regular yellow and purple, then used white for the whole face and then I put tan over that.

I think my art is a tribute to my time at Central DeWitt, it shows what I accomplished this year in the sport I love. The friends I made and what im doing in college.

I wish I could have added more detail into the face and contrast with the skin tones, i didn't have time to add in shadows or deepness in the eyes

I would say this art is surreal, its a self portrait with meaning behind it.
