PRACTICE INFORMATION FOR SCHOOL YEAR:
Monday- 6:30 am- practice at EHS 3:30 pm- weights at EHS
Tuesday- 6:30 am- practice at EHS
Wednesday- 2:30 pm- weights with a run to follow- likely done around 4:15
Thursday- 6:30 am- practice at EHS
Friday- practice at 3:30 pm
Saturday- meet or practice-- if we have practice, we will likely meet off site somewhere
SUMMER TRAINING
GROUP RUNS (CAPTAIN'S PRACTICES) WILL BEGIN 6/26
Summer training is an extremely important part of the fall cross country season. In order to be prepared for the training that you will encounter during the season, you must have a solid distance base. There are captain’s practices during the week at 8:00 am. The practices are going to start on June 26, 2023. The team meets at the athletic entrance of the high school (near the hockey rink). These runs are optional but are strongly recommended. ***Weights time is Monday and Wednesday at 9:15-10:15 with COach Isham in the Essex Weight Room****
These practices are a great way to stay active over the summer, learn our running routes, and get to know your teammates. Don’t be nervous about attending, there will be many different paces and distances offered. Running over the summer is also very, very important for injury prevention. If you can slowly build up your mileage and tolerance you will be less likely to develop injuries when we get into the season. Believe it or not, the end of October comes very fast, so we get right into intense practices and having a base will help you have a more successful and fun season!
The captains will work with the coaches to come up with a reasonable plan for summer running. A good estimate is 20-25 miles per week for beginners and 30-45 for varsity runners.
Catamount Family Center in Williston, offers a Tuesday night trail series that is really fun, and a great way to switch up the training a bit. The races are at 6:15. I highly encourage people to come! I plan to go to these regularly and it would be awesome to have a big EHS group there.
