The Qualifications of Membership in the Cannon County Middle School Junior Beta Club are listed below. Students interested in possible membership should meet the following criteria:
Students should have an overall grade-point average of 90 in the core classes (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies [CTE is a core subject for 8th-grade students]. There should be no grades below 85 on progress reports. Students must also be passing in all of the Related Arts classes he or she is enrolled in.
Students should have commendable behavior. Students should not be receiving discipline slips or office referrals.
Students should show good character by always "doing the right thing." This means they should always be truthful and fair with all (students and staff). Good character means that students show the following qualities: honesty, kindness, respect, courage, selflessness, and compassion.
Students should have good attendance. Students should be at school as often as possible and not have excessive tardy entries or leave early sign-outs.
Students will have the opportunity to apply for membership in the fall and spring of each school year. Students who qualify will receive a letter inviting them to join. Students who do not meet the qualifications will receive a letter detailing why he or she was not invited to join at this time. Students who improve on any listed qualification are encouraged to reapply at the next opportunity.
