This class will focus on the "Choose My Plate" Model and the five food groups. Each week, we will dive into one of the five food groups, unpack the nutritional value it possesses, and prepare an easy recipe that highlights that food group. While students are not required to cook at home, the completion of class recipes is optional, but strongly encouraged.
The first class meeting of the week will be unpacking the food group, while the second class meeting will be demonstrations of recipes and Q&A sessions for students. Students will then complete a FlipGrid video breakdown of the recipe(s) from the week to showcase nutrition and culinary arts knowledge.
Each week, a list of ingredients will be posted for students preparing the recipe at home for themselves and their families.
