My name is Mrs. Shannon Nemec, and I am looking forward to beginning my 25th year of teaching here at Tarkington! During my career, I have taught 2nd, 2/3, 3/4, and of course 3rd grade.
I graduated from Illinois State University (Go Redbirds!) in 2001 with a degree in Elementary Education. In 2004, I graduated from St. Xavier University with my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
My husband is a high-school social studies teacher at Streamwood High School. We live in McHenry and have twin 17 year-olds (Addison & Jared) who are seniors in high school! Last summer, we added Nash, an Australian Cattle-Dog mix puppy to our family! In my free time, I enjoy cheering on my kids during their sports and activities, watching movies, playing with our puppy and spending time with family and friends.
I am excited and very fortunate to be working with a great 3rd grade team this year! Mrs. Gratz, Mrs. Porter, Ms. Sternberg, and I have been working hard on the 3rd grade curriculum, and I look forward to planning and collaborating with them throughout the year as we plan our units and activities.
I am very excited to be starting this year and am sure both you and your child will find third grade to be a fun, educational, and worthwhile experience.
