Meet Your Classroom Teacher

I am very excited about starting this year and I am sure both you and your child will find third grade fun, educational, and challenging.

I want to take a moment and introduce myself.  My name is Mrs. Nicole Ouimette, and I will be your child’s 3rd grade teacher. This is my thirteenth year teaching 3rd grade.  I previously taught for ten years as a 6th grade teacher at Holmes Middle School.  I am extremely excited being a 3rd grade teacher and looking forward to working with your child this year.

At this time, I would like to share some of my background information with you. I grew up in northern Illinois.  I graduated from National-Louis University in 2001 with a degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. In 2003, I graduated from National-Louis University with a masters degree in Middle Level Education.

My husband and I have four kids. I have adult stepchildren. My stepdaughter and her husband live live about 30 minutes north of my house with their two daughters. My stepson and his wife live about 30 minutes south of my house with their daughter. My daughter, Gabrielle, is a sophomore and loves acting and participating in her youth group.  My youngest daughter, Mya, is a 8th grader and plays club soccer. The last member of our family is our Bernese Mountain Dog, Sasha. She is almost 7 years old and a gentle giant!  Some of my favorite activities are taking road trips, cycling, going on day trips to places like museums and zoos, creating picture slideshows for my family and getting great ideas for my home and school off of Pinterest.

My goal as your child's classroom teacher is to create an environment where students are learning with one another.  Throughout the day, students should be collaborating, communicating, being creative, and using critical thinking.  This will help them with 21st learning skills to be successful students and learners in life.
