Positive Behavior with Boys Town

This year we will be utilizing the Boys Town Educational Model. This is a school-wide initiative that Conestoga uses to promote positive behavior. The program focuses on building relationships by:

• Teaching social skills

• Being consistent with school-wide expectations

• Teaching and practicing expectations and procedures

• Encouraging positive behavior through praise and positive consequences

• Guiding students through the process of correcting behavior

• Holding students accountable for choosing a negative behavior

In Addition To...

        Your child's classroom may also provide an opportunity for students to earn points/money.  Students will be credited for positive choices within the school day and debited when choices can be improved.  All students are expected to be contributing members of the classroom and diligent learners.

Notable Changes in the Handbook

Appropriate School Hydration: 

Students may only consume water within the classroom environment and playground.  Any other beverages packed with lunch will need to be consumed in the lunchroom.  

* No Energy Drinks of any kind will be allowed.

Cell Phones, Smartwatches, & Electronic Devices: 

Students’ cell phones, smartwatches, and electronic communication devices must be off and left in a  designated area in the classroom during school hours. Phones, smart watches, and electronic communication devices must be turned off while your student is on school grounds during designated school hours from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. If you need to contact your student during the school day, please call the office and we will deliver a message to the classroom.  If your student needs to reach you, that will be done from the school phone and facilitated by school staff. 

Visitors and Guests: 

All visitors and guests are to check in with the staff in the office with their I.D. and then get a visitor's badge. If you don't have a badge you will be asked to return to the office and check in with the office. 

Student Appearance: 

We expect our students to come each day in school-appropriate clothing.  This includes no pajama pants or tops, slippers, or shirts that show the mid-drift or back.  Shorts should also provide appropriate coverage.  

Lunchroom: 

Due to an increase in student allergies, outside meals can only be brought in for your child.  If you plan to bring food for the entire class for a special occasion, we ask you to pre-arrange it with the classroom teacher to ensure safe food consumption for all students.
