Our students have been taught through different Social Emotional Learning tools throughout the year how to name and own our feelings. The Zones of Regulation provides teachers, children, and parents with common understanding and vocabulary for communicating our emotional states. Essentially, any emotion is normal, but how a person copes with it is what matters.
In very general terms:
We need to be in the GREEN zone to be ready for learning and focused.
If we are in the BLUE zone, we are sad, tired to learn, sick and our bodies are slow moving.
If we are in the YELLOW zone, we are overly excited or anxious to learn and have some lose of control with our bodies.
If we are in the RED zone, we are too angry to learn.
