Ram-Rumbling into the 2023 Fall Pep Rally

By Aidan Dobrosielski, Editor-in-Chief (2023)

The 2023 Fall Pep Rally was a big success. Not only did it get students excited for the homecoming football game, but it allowed our varsity athletes to showcase their skills on the turf. What a great way to end a successful Spirit Week.

On Friday, October 6th, Clarkstown North students were dismissed from their 8th period classes early to enjoy the Ram Pep Rally. Thanks to School President LJ Macias, Senior President Derek Mathew, Athletic Director Mrs. Brogan, the Student Council, and school administrators, the North community was able to come together as one student body to cheer on their favorite teams.

To prepare for the special day, the captains of each Varsity Fall Sports Team coordinated a skit to perform for the school. From dances to sword fights to kickoff returns, the Pep Rally had it all. As students filed into the bleachers, the Clarkstown North Band and Taiko Drum Club performed, amping up the school spirit. The Band, led by Mr. Andert, also performed the National Anthem. To kick off the celebration of North Athletic achievements, the Cheer team danced to a medley of songs by Rihanna. The undefeated Varsity Boys Volleyball team bumped, set, and spiked to “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice, a classic. The Kickline Team even had a special guest perform with them: Rammy.

To hype up the crowd for the Homecoming Football Game against Horace Greeley, the North Varsity Football Team performed a skit like no other. Junior Ryan Collopy kicked off the ball to Gerry Piscitelli. Piscitelli is a North staff member loved by all students and athletes for his respect, kindness, and humor. And Gerry didn’t disappoint during his time to shine as a kick returner on North’s biggest stage; he took it to the house for a touchdown. Later that night, the football team beat Horace Greeley 26-7.

Coordinated by the North Student Council, LJ Macias and Derek Mathew led a Field Goal shootout competition between our North Fall Sports Varsity Captains. And let’s just say that we learned one thing: it is tough to kick a field goal.

The 2023 Fall Pep Rally was not only a great way to reward Varsity athletes for their achievements this season but it also encouraged greater attendance at our games. It was a true indication of our tremendous Rams School Spirit. Good luck to all of our Ram Athletes as they take on the postseason soon.
