In an effort to encourage positive behavior and engagement in learning, Strawtown recently launched The Golden Horseshoe program. The program is based in a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) model and works to honor the Clarkstown Commitment. Our school values (in bold) are each connected to our broader district values (in italics), and are as follows:
Confidence (Motivation)
Compassion & Kindness (Empathy)
Curiosity (Innovation)
Responsibility (Resilience)
A certificate is awarded in each value category when a student meetsÂ
3 of the 5 criteria in each category for a month. At the end of the month, Horseshoe recipients will be announced over the loudspeaker, which will be displayed on the TV screen in the main hallway.
Students who receive more than 9 certificates in a year will earn an extra recess period with Mr. Andersen at the conclusion of the school year and will be recognized during the Field Day closing ceremony!
