This is a one-semester course that offers a highly visual, non-mathematical introduction to computing and computer programming. Students will choose environments, populate them with features, creatures and sounds, and animate these elements in simulated three-dimensional space to tell stories, play games, give interactive instructions, etc.
We give the students an introduction into computer animation and game development. We begin with the basics of what makes a successful animation or game and then learn how to make it come to life. The course hopes to bring together creativity and technology, that the two ideas are not mutually exclusive. Through the use of previous knowledge, existing skills and group projects the students will gain a foundation for creative expression and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge that help the students become creative problem-solvers, future innovators, and successes in whatever career they choose.
