Big Ideas for 1st Grade music students:
Creating - Conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and work
Performing - Realizing artistic ideas and work through interpretation and presentation
Responding - Understanding and evaluating how the arts convey meaning
Connecting - Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external context
1st Grade students expand on the musical experiences they built in Kindergarten. Students will also experience basic music theory including rhythm and meter, and song through the Solfege Scale.
Carnival of the Animals
Grade 1 students have begun our Carnival of the Animals listening project. Throughout this work, students learn to actively listen to music while describing what they hear; instruments, speeds, even emotions and other descriptions! We also compare and contrast the movements with the animals they represent and the other movements in the piece.
