The One and Only Ivan
Reading Celebration Project
Let’s celebrate our shared reading journey together! This project gives students the chance to show their voices, creativity, and kindness while reflecting on the themes of The One and Only Ivan.
Students K–5 (entries celebrated in grade-level categories)
Family Category (Optional): A student + caregiver team can create a co-entry
“What makes The One and Only Ivan memorable to you?”
Choose ONE format below to create a short book review that convinces others to read the book and highlights an important theme such as friendship, kindness, courage, belonging, art, or advocacy.
Picture Review (1 page)
Draw a favorite scene and add a 1–2 sentence caption (adult scribe OK).
Include a Kindness Leaf: write or dictate one kind act inspired by the story.

Back: 4–6 sentence review that states a big idea and recommends the book.

One-Page Written/Visual Review
Half-page text + half-page visuals, quotes, or drawings.
