Do Your Best Work
In our classroom, we focus on natural consequences, which means your choices lead to real outcomes. If work isn’t finished, it gets completed later. If directions are missed, you’ll need to figure them out or ask for help. If materials are misused, you may lose access to them. If learning time is used for talking or being off-task, extra time may be needed to finish. If someone is hurt by words or actions, it’s your job to make it right. You are always in control of your choices, and your choices determine what happens next.
Throughout the year there will be regularly scheduled parent teacher conferences. Typically these are held once per semester between 3:00-6:00 P.M. During these conferences, we will discuss your child's academic performance and social progress. If at any time you have any concerns regarding your student, feel free to reach out to schedule an additional conference. We can work together to find a time that will work best. I am flexible on these, but need advanced notice as I coach after school most days of the week.
In our classroom, grades are rolling, which means they can change and improve over time as students complete missing work or show better understanding. Students have until the end of each nine weeks to update and improve any of their grades. I also use IXL to monitor student progress, achievement, and mastery of skills, which helps guide instruction and support.
Students will take standards-based tests that focus on specific skills we are learning. If a student scores a 70 or below, they will participate in a reteaching session to strengthen their understanding and will be required to retake the test. I will record the higher of the two scores. This approach ensures that grades reflect what students ultimately learn, not just their first attempt.
Progress reports will be sent home every four and a half weeks. These will cover every subject that is taught throughout the day and is based on student participation and grades.
Report Cards will be issued every nine weeks.
I will try to have grades entered into Skyward for you to view as quickly as possible.
I love celebrations and would love to have a special moment/snack for your child on their birthday or other occasions; however, I MUST have at least a 24 hour notice before to plan accordingly. Our schedule is very tight, so we need to be able to plan ahead! We also have several allergies in our classroom, so please be mindful when planning to bring in a snack. If you would like to send something in, please message me in advance and I can let you know the allergies as well as a number of students so you can plan accordingly.
