Meet the Teacher

Hello!

My name is Brandon Michael, but most students know me as Mr. B. I’m excited to be starting another school year at Crab Orchard Elementary, where I am currently teaching fourth and fifth grade science.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Special Education Assistant for four years. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with students from Pre-K through 8th grade. That experience taught me a lot about how different every student can be and how important it is to meet students where they are. It is something that I continue to carry with me into my classroom today.

After teaching summer school at Crab Orchard Elementary, I knew this was where I wanted to be. I have been fortunate to call Crab Orchard home ever since, and I truly enjoy being part of this school and community.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Tennessee Technological University in 2010 and later earned my Master’s in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University in 2021.

As a teacher, one of the things I care about most is making sure students know that they are valued and that they have someone in their corner. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, trying new things, and being themselves. I also believe that getting to know my students and building positive relationships with them makes a big difference in how they learn and grow.

Every student is different, and there is no single way to teach every child. My goal is to help each student find ways to be successful while also making science something they can enjoy and be excited about.
