Admission Requirements:
Overall GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale with a 3.0 in the arts discipline.
An audition or portfolio assessment.
An essay describing why one aspires to be a member of the School of the Arts
A recommendation form filled out by a teacher knowledgeable of one’s talent.
A copy of the student’s most recent report card.
Students enrolled in the School of the Arts must complete at least four-course requirements in one of the following four arts disciplines: Dance, Music, Theatre Arts, or Visual Arts.
In addition to meeting Academy requirements, students must graduate under the College Tech Prep or College Prep Programs.

Academy students will be required to take honors level classes usually in Grades 11-12
Students are expected to take at least one additional class in the arts sometime during their four-year high school career.
Currently, there is NO transportation provided for student outside of the 71st school district.
Students enrolled in SOA are required to take at least ONE arts class in their chosen concentration area per academic year. Plus at least one other arts class outside of their concentration area before graduating.
Yes, you can be in sports and/or clubs. However, you are expected to participate fully in any/all Arts clubs within your concentration area as Arts is your primary focus as a School of Arts student.
Officially, NO, students cannot have more than one arts concentration area; however, you are able to take as many other arts classes as your schedule allows.
