Welcome to the home site of Mrs. Beck's and Mrs. Wingard's 6th Grade English classes! This site will be used to support the class in many ways, including posting news, updates, schedules, assignments, policies, etc. Check back for updates throughout the year!

Course Description

This course covers the Virginia Standards of Learning at the sixth grade level. The purpose of this course is to explore the world through reading various genres, writing for a specific author’s purpose by using appropriate language skills, evaluating research, and utilizing oral language to communicate effectively. During this school year, we will focus on literature study, vocabulary development, writing, grammar, and research/reference skills.

This is my 11th year of teaching and I'm proud to be a Blackhawk!

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education (1-6) from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

In my spare time, I like spending time with my family, reading, watching and going to college basketball games , and singing.

I'm looking forward to a great school year!
