Christina Sienkewicz
Christina Sienkiewicz, a National Board Certified Teacher, is the new Orchestra Director at Thomas Dale High School in Chester, VA. Although a Michigan native, she spent most of her life in North Carolina where she received both her Bachelor of Music in Music Education (2008) and Masters of Music (2012) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her family relocated to Richmond for her husband's job and has found it to be a very welcoming and friendly place to live. Christina has experience teaching all levels from Elementary Strings, to college courses at UNC Charlotte, and most recently at Maggie L Walker Governor’s School. She has a passion for inclusion in music education, believing all students should have equal access to quality string education opportunities. While in Charlotte she founded two orchestras, one being the CMS High School All County Orchestra and the other a community based orchestra through UNC Charlotte. She is the managing director for a local non-profit called Music Orchard which provides free private lessons and instruments to students in Richmond Public Schools. In 2016 Christina served as the guest conductor for the NC Junior Eastern Regional Honors Orchestra, 2018 as a clinician for CCPS All County Orchestra, and in 2020 as a CCPS Orchestra Assessment Adjudicator. Also an avid performer, Christina has played viola with several regional NC Orchestras, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, VCU Health Orchestra, and most recently part of a local Piano Quartet. On her off time Christina enjoys working in her garden, reading, hanging out with her family, chickens, and scruffy rescue dog.
