Students will select courses for the 2026-27 school year on January 22 & 23.
What classes do I have to take next year?
You should sign up for 7 classes:
English
Math
Science
Social Studies
Economics & Personal Finance (if you have not already taken this class) OR an elective of your choice
World Language (if pursuing the Advanced Diploma) OR an elective of your choice
An elective of your choice
**All students should also pick at least 2 - 3 alternate electives in case your first choice elective is full or conflicts with your other classes.
How will I know which classes I should sign up for?
Teachers will offer advisement to students regarding next year’s course selection.
When will I make my course selections?
All students will select their courses for the 2026-27 school year by inputting class selections in Studentvue on January 22 & 23.
What if I change my mind after I make my course selections?
All students will meet with their school counselor starting in February and throughout the month of March. You will review your course selections with your counselor and you can make changes and updates at that time. You can also submit this form and a JRHS Counselor will update your course request. All changes must be made my March 28th.
What if I am interested in taking a CCPS online class next year?
When you meet with your school counselor you will be able to ask questions and get more information about how to sign up for a CCPS online class. In the meantime, you are welcome to visit the CCPS Online website.
I am interested in going to the Tech Center next year. How do I apply and how will that work with my JRHS classes?

What if I am interested in taking a Dual Enrollment and/or AP class?
You should select any DE or AP classes in Studentvue when you make your initial course selections and your counselor will follow up with you about the process for Dual Enrollment registration. There is an application and permission form to submit for DE classes and your counselor will explain that process in your scheduling meeting. If you are interested in taking an AP course, there is no application or other requirements (other than meeting course prerequisites).
Can I get an early release and take less than 7 courses my senior year?
All students are expected to take 7 courses for the 2026-2027 School Year. Early Release will only be available to students that have met all graduation requirements AND have medical documentation from a doctor or documentation from an employer stating they work more than 20 hours per week. Your counselor will speak to you about early release when you meet individually in the coming weeks.
I want to be a student aide. What do I need to do?
Rising 11th and 12th grade students can apply to be student aides for the 25-26 school year. You must complete this applicationLinks to an external site. to be considered for a position. You must be a rising 11th or 12th grader to apply. Your school counselor will follow up with you regarding the status of your student aide application before the end of the school year.
