"Project Lit is a national, grassroots literacy movement—a network of dedicated teachers and students who are committed to increasing access to culturally relevant books and promoting a love of reading in schools and communities across America."
At Project LIT we love reading and we love YOU! Our book club is an exciting, safe, and exploratory community for students to support one another to explore the BIG ideas, and learn more about our own experiences and the experiences of people who are different from us. Our Monacan chapter of Project LIT is part of a larger, national book club of students and teachers reading together and changing the world.
To learn more about Project LIT and to see some of the books we're reading check out these slides.
Our first meeting will be a planning/leadership meeting on Tuesday, September 20th at 3pm in room 106 (Ms. Lucas's room). If you are interested in helping us design what this club will be like, including when we meet, how our meetings work, and what we should read first, come to this meeting to share your voice and ideas!
Club Sponsors: Ms. Lucas and Ms. Parent (rooms 105 + 106)
