Empowering English Language Learners, a branch of the Peer Assistance League (PAL), is a tutoring program that will focus on supporting the ELL/ESL community here at James River High School. Its goal is to ensure that ELL students are afforded access to resources to enhance their academic success. Through collaboration with the ESL teachers, the tutoring program will consist of aid for the students that will meet their individualized needs. The aid will then be implemented with the assistance of volunteer tutors from the many clubs and organizations within the James River Community. The end goal of the tutoring program is for the students to learn to advocate for themselves and their education.
