Digital Citizenship

In CCPS, digital citizenship is integrated into curriculum through core and elective content areas and is the responsibility of every teacher. When incorporating technology in the context of course work, it is the responsibility of each teacher to promote digital citizenship and ensure students are engaging in the application of technology in safe, ethical and appropriate ways. For example, when delivering project expectations, students are taught about fair use and proper citation format.

The digital citizenship curriculum used in CCPS was created by Common Sense Media and is delivered through the Nearpod web application. The curriculum addresses the same 8 themes, at age appropriate levels, throughout a student's K-12 experience. Built in formative assessment is provided throughout the interactive lessons, and summative assessments are administered at the end of grades 2, 5 and 8. Each lesson takes approximately 30 minutes including discussion and assessment.
