Google Classroom Tips

Google Classroom CAN be used with primary students! Here are some tips for using it with your students on Chromebooks:

  1. Bookmark Google Classroom for students, so they can access with one click.
  2. Use the Topics feature in Google Classroom so that students know where to access work during different portions of the day.
  3. Want to give students websites to explore? Create a Google Doc of links within Google Classroom- that way they are still building the routine of working through Google Classroom each time they use their Chromebook.
  4. Create simple, drag and drop templates using Google Slides (see below) for students to manipulate that mirror activities done in class. Google Slides allows you to edit the Master Slide so that you can "lock" things into place that you don't want students to move. (Watch the video here to learn more!)
  5. Use images and word art instead of text boxes- those are easier for students to click and drag or move with arrows.
  6. Click here to see how to create a basic sort using Google Slides.
