Give your child old magazines and have him/her point to or cut out letters. Start with the letters of his/her own name.
Have your child create letters out of playdoh.
Shaving cream letters- Spread shaving cream on tabletop; “Write” letters in the shaving cream
Take a walk through your neighborhood, around your house, or in a grocery store, and see how many letters you can find.
Take turns naming a word that rhymes. For example: cat, hat, rat, mat. When you run out of words or an incorrect word is given, the chain is broken. Other rhymes are top, mop…, hit, sit..., up, cup…, set, bet...
