In our library, staff will :
provide access to free, relevant resources that serve the school community's interests and support our county-wide mission to engage learners in rigorous, diverse educational experiences that promote intellectual growth
provide access to information presenting a variety of points of view, cultural experiences, and intellectual ideas in hopes of educating most authentically without bias or prejudice
challenge censorship in support of providing diverse educational experiences for the school community
serve the school community as a whole, regardless of background, origin, or views, in appropriate educational situations that promote student growth and experience
provide an appropriate educational setting that promotes student growth and experience regardless of background, origin, or view
provide a meeting space in which our students, staff, and stakeholders can share interests, support learning, and come together as a community
Elkton Middle School will provide student-centered opportunities to all students, promoting the exploration of new topics and perspectives. Students will gain real-world skills through lessons led and supported by the media program and the media collection, which are purposefully curated to provide a diverse learning experience. The media center supports all stakeholders in their quest for knowledge, safety, and creativity.
The Elkton Middle School Media Center will be a central piece of the school community, promoting diversity, collaboration, and a nurturing environment supporting students and staff.
Mrs. Gasparo has been the media specialist at Elkton Middle School since 2022. Before her library experience, Mrs. Gasparo taught English Language Arts. Most recently, she taught eighth grade at North East Middle School. She has taught in Maryland and Pennsylvania in seventh, eighth, ninth, and twelfth grades. Mrs. Gasparo is part of the Elkton Middle School AVID team and works regularly with teachers throughout the building. Mrs. Gasparo loves her job as a media specialist and is excited to invite anyone who wants to learn into the library.
