The Education Planning Guide for the upcoming 2020-2021 School Year will help your student with deciding classes for their schedule, ensure they are on the right path, and give descriptions of each course.
Each School Year, students will schedule their next classes for the upcoming school year. Students will schedule the following courses:
English
Math
Social Studies
Science
World Language
Physical Education/Health Education (9th, 10th grade)
Electives
Information regarding Driver's Education through Cecil College:
Rising 10th graders interested in taking Driver's Education during the school day at BMHS in the Fall 2020 through Cecil College MUST register for an IN-SCHOOL class by JUNE 15th, 2020. Registration must be completed at www.cecil.edu/drivered. Scroll down for a flyer with more details.
Dual Enrollment through Cecil College Information:
Any student of Cecil County Public Schools who is also enrolled in courses at Cecil College is considered dually enrolled. Students of other school districts or home schools may be eligible for dual enrollment. Contact the Admissions Office for further information at (410) 287-1006.
Senior Waiver Program (From Cecil College Website)
Cecil County Public Schools (CCPS) students may waive all or part of their senior year, enroll in courses at Cecil College, and still graduate with their high school class. Students are approved through CCPS for this program. CCPS has authorizations and processes that must be followed with high school counselors. Cecil College offers a College-Bound Scholarship for the Senior Wavier Program. All students must meet Cecil College admissions standards.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Program (From Cecil College Website)
Students enrolled in the STEM Program of Cecil County Public Schools (CCPS) may enroll in designated courses at Cecil College during their junior and/or senior years of high school. Through this partnership, eligible students receive a waiver for two-thirds of the in-county tuition rate in effect for the semester. All students must meet Cecil College admissions standards.
College Board offers an array of different services to students. One of them being a College Major lookup. This service offers students the ability to look at what courses they are to expect in college, and what classes are recommended to take throughout High School to best prepare for the major. Below are some majors that are popular with students and the classes they recommend you take. If your major is not listed below, there is a link at the bottom of the page along with instructions to help you navigate the website and find the High School classes best recommended for your major.

1) On the side, there will be a box that says, "Want to Explore College Majors?"
2) Type in the Major you are interested in (ex: Nursing)
3) When results pop up, click the link that is the major you are looking for. On that page on the right hand side, there is going to be a box that says, "Helpful High School Courses". Those are the courses that will help prepare you for that major.
CCPS offers numerous Dual Enrollment classes through Cecil College that will also give you college credit and help start your major during High School.
