There are several different ways you will receive donations. These include:
Cheque Donations
Cash Donations
Credit Card Donations
Online Donations
Anonymous Donations
Shared Donations
If you or a potential supporter need to mail a donation to CCO, please use the following address.
Catholic Christian Outreach
PO Box 79030 Vanier PO
Ottawa, ON K1L 1A1
1. Cheque Donation:
This is the ideal type of donation. There are no fees taken off like with credit cards, so you get 100% of the donation. If someone writes you a cheque, simply make sure it is attached to a filled-out donation form. All cheques should be made out to “Catholic Christian Outreach” or “CCO”.
If they make it payable to YOUR name, simply sign your name on the back of the cheque, where it says ‘endorsement’ and write below: “Pay to the order of CCO” before sending to CCO; see the example below:
2. Cash Donation
People who wish to make cash donations must fully complete a donation form in order to receive a tax receipt. CCO is a no cash office, so you must deposit the cash into your bank account and either:
Write a cheque for the total amount of cash donations (3rd Party Cheque)
If you do this, make sure to staple the cheque to the corresponding donation form(s). You can write 1 cheque for multiple donors, as long as you attach all the corresponding donations form.
This is the preferred method to submit cash donations. If you personally do not have cheques, we recommend sending the money as an etransfer (see below)
If you have received cash from multiple donors, you need only send a single cheque. The cheque should be equal to the total amounts listed on all the donation forms from the cash donors. If you receive cash from people who don't want a tax receipt, or who didn't give their names, lump those donations together on a single donation form and call it "anonymous cash donations"
Send an e-transfer for the total amount of cash donations. You can follow the instructions here below.
3. Credit Card Donations
There is a fee attached to processing credit card donations. The fee is approximately 2.75% and will be taken from the donation. For example, a donation of $100 given by credit card will end up being a donation of $97.25 toward your goal. Please keep this in mind when figuring out your mission account balance.
4. Online Donations
We can accept donations online! You should have received a link in your welcome email, that will lead you to a form where you can set up a profile on the CCO missions website: Once you've submitted your profile, we'll get it up on our website. Your potential supporters can head to https://cco.ca/missions/ where they can scroll down, find your picture, and donate.
When someone makes an online donation, a member of the Mission team will get a notification. We will forward this email notification to you once it's received. Once a donation is received, please allow up to 3 weeks for it to be processed and show up in your online account.
Keep in mind that the majority of online donations will be done via credit card, which means there will be a 2.75% fee coming off the total donation amount.
5. Anonymous Donations
You may receive anonymous cash donations (for example, at a parish appeal) or cash from someone who says that they don’t want a tax receipt. In these cases, you can lump this sum in with other cash donations and indicate that they are “anonymous donations” on a donation form. To submit this money to CCO, you can write a cheque and attach it to a donation form, or it can be sent in an e-transfer to CCO.
6. Shared Donations
If you come across a situation where someone would like to donate to you AND another mission participant it's best to contact the CCO Missions team at missions@cco.ca so we can communicate the correct procedure for submitting these donations.
Finally; if any of these instructions are unclear, don't hesitate to contact us. Sending donations to CCO can be complicated and confusing for us if it's not done correctly!
