December 2025
To the treasured supporters of the Clinton County Historical Society, the Clinton County Archives, and the Clinton County Historical Museum:
As 2025 comes to a close, the members of the executive board would like to extend our deepest appreciation for your unwavering commitment to preserving and celebrating Clinton County’s history, and for your support that has led to another successful year.
For the coming year, you may notice that the format for dues has changed to one that now more accurately reflects our purpose, which is “to bring together those people interested in history and genealogy, especially that of Clinton County.” Specifically, there is now one basic membership that combines the benefits of all segments of our society: the museum, the archives, and the general historical society. The new amount of $40 annually will reflect a savings of $10 for those who have traditionally been members of both the museum and the CCHS, but for others it will reflect a small increase.
This decision was not made without careful reflection and due consideration. The cost of preserving historical materials and maintaining our facilities is rising at an unprecedented rate. And the technological tools we now employ to catalog archives, digitize photographs, and share Clinton County’s history with a wider audience require ongoing investment.
This change in format means that every member, including those that historically supported only the museum, will now receive the “Trails,” a quarterly newsletter filled with interesting stories and articles of local history. Other benefits of membership include free admission to speaker events and training seminars, a reduced rate for archives research service, discounts on sale items such as books, and the opportunity to volunteer to be on committees of the executive board. Also, the membership cost includes all members of the same household.
The board values transparency, and pledges that every dollar contributed through membership dues will be directed toward the preservation of artifacts and archival materials, maintenance of our facilities, acquisition of new historical materials, and investment in digital infrastructure to improve access to our collections.
As supporters of the CCHS, your investment enables us to inspire future generations, connect with our community, and ensure that the stories of our past remain vibrant and accessible.
With heartfelt appreciation,
The Executive Board of the Clinton County Historical Society
