Notting Hill History Trip
Last week, four groups of Year 10 History students took part in a visit to Notting Hill as part of their GCSE History course. The trip was designed to support their Historic Environment study, which focuses on the history of migration, community, and protest in the area. Students explored key locations such as All Saints Road, Portobello Road Market, and the site of the former Mangrove restaurant. The visit provided valuable context and helped bring the historical significance of Notting Hill to life, deepening students’ understanding of the themes they are studying in History this term.
Carnegie Shadowing Event
On Friday the 13th of June a group of students went to the Carnegie event to make a presentation about our book, called King of Nothing, Nathanael Lessore. It was an extremely enjoyable experience where we got to meet students from other schools and see their different presentations on their books. We also had the privilege of meeting the author who wrote the King of Nothing and he gave us a talk on how he became a writer. Overall it was a wonderful day and thank you so much for this amazing opportunity.
Thank you so much,
Farah
For the first time, I visited the Carnegie shadowing event, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The event was packed with presentations and intervals which we used to meet new people and to connect. Everyone was really friendly. Our school did a presentation, which I thought was really well put together and I enjoyed the whole process, from making the presentation to presenting it. My favourite part (apart from presenting) was meeting the author who came to visit, Nathanael Lessore, who had a bright personality and was very humorous. I enjoyed the whole trip and would definitely do it again!
