Dear families,
Today was the first non-uniform day of the academic year and it has been lovely to see lots of green in the school for Just One Tree Day (click here), a charity which raises money for tree planting and environmental education, planting a tree for every £1 donated.
This week was the deadline for Year 13 pupils to apply for Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine/Science and I am delighted to share that 18 Year 13 pupils (over a quarter of the year group) have applied including 13 applications for Oxbridge. This is an increase on recent years and there is a wider range of subjects being applied for including Law, History, Economics and English alongside Maths, Physics, Engineering and Computer Science.
This week has also seen the publication of the provisional key performance measures for KS4 (click here). As I have previously shared with families, the outcomes in the summer were incredibly strong including our attainment 8 score of 56.7, which is above the local authority and national average, as is our percentage of pupils who attained grade 5 or above in English and maths at GCSE. This is a testament to the hard work of our pupils, supported by their families and staff, and we are all incredibly proud of the achievements of this year group.
I would like to thank parents of Year 9 pupils who attended the Year 9 information evening led by Mr Baron, Head of Year 9, on Wednesday evening. Year 10 information evening takes place on Tuesday 21 October 2025.
Ms Scott, Assistant Headteacher, and I hosted the first Parent Voice meeting of the academic year on Tuesday evening where we discussed our Personal Development curriculum, including MyZone lessons, tutor time, clubs and trips. It was lovely to hear from the parents how much they value the trips that we run at CCF, not just for the experience that it provides for our pupils but also for how much care and support they feel their children receive whilst they are on a trip. This includes the Battlefields trip which took place last weekend and I am grateful to Ms Subramoney, Head of History, for leading the trip which I know was an excellent experience for the pupils who attended.
I would also like to wish those who celebrate, a wonderful time with family and friends this Diwali.
Finally, I would like to remind you that the half-term ends for pupils at 3.05pm on Thursday 23 October 2025 and wish you all a lovely weekend.
Dr Ruth Hill
Headteacher
