Dear families,

I hope you had a lovely rest over the Easter break. It has been a pleasure to welcome pupils back this week and the summer term has started positively and smoothly. Year 10 pupils have been impressive in meeting our high expectations for exams and I know that they have been working hard, supported by their families and teachers, to prepare for these important mock examinations.

Over the holidays there were a number of staff working including teachers running interventions which I know pupils and families value highly. Our premises and IT teams were also busy and have overseen improvements in a number of areas including: fixing the issues with the roof over the Drama classroom; replacing the boards in a number of classrooms with modern interactive boards; repainting areas of the school and upgrading the fibre cabling on the west side of the school. We also have had film fitted on windows in the Science corridor which should help with the heat in the top part of the school during the sunnier months. 

Over the holidays a group of staff and pupils took part in the school ski trip to Canada and it has been lovely hearing from pupils - and staff - who took part. I am grateful to the parents of pupils on the trip for the kind words sent in to thank the staff for “the time, care and effort” that has ensured that pupils were able to “create a series of special life long memories”. I also received an email from the ski rep who wanted to say what an “absolute pleasure” it had been to spend the week with our pupils on the trip and that the pupils were “polite, engaging and resilient”, and he asked me to pass on how impressed he was with our pupils. At CCF we are impressed by our pupils each and every day and it is lovely to have that recognised further. 

Parents and carers may have seen the reports in the media about the Department for Education (DfE) who are consulting on proposed changes to the school food standards (click here). At CCF, we are proud that our food offering is nutritious and delicious and that all meals are complemented by the salad bar and overseen by our in-house catering team. I would always encourage parents to respond to DfE consultations and would like to remind parents/carers to contact the school via info@ccfplus.com should you have any questions about our menus or catering.

Please encourage your child to check the lost property. We currently have a large amount of unclaimed coats, water bottles, uniform items and PE kit available for collection. Items not collected by Friday 24th April will be donated to those in need.
