Updates for the Parents/Carers of Christ’s College Finchley
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Dear families,
I have had the pleasure of hosting four Open Morning events this week, each of which included up to 20 families who are keen to find out more about CCF as they make their preferences for secondary school places. We changed the format this year and families heard a short talk from me before touring with a pupil guide. As ever, our pupils are our best assets and I am grateful to all of the pupils who volunteered as tour guides. The visiting families were overwhelmingly positive about the school and, of course, about the pupils in particular.
I would like to thank the parents of Year 7 pupils who attended the Year 7 information evening that took place on Tuesday and thank Ms Ireland, Head of Year 7, for organising the evening and the staff who attended to speak with parents. It was lovely to hear from parents how settled and happy their children are in Year 7 at CCF and I know that staff have been impressed with the successful transition the year group has made.
I would also like to thank the parents of those pupils attending the Battlefields trip this weekend who had a very early start today as they head off for what I am sure will be an excellent and informative visit.
Yesterday, our gardening club took part in the Barnet Schools Young Gardeners Awards and I was delighted to hear they won Best Educational Garden and were overall winners. Well done to the gardening team!
Next Friday 17th October 2025 is a non-uniform day: this is a change from the original date of 23 October 2025. Please pay £2 on ParentPay (or there is the option to pay £6 to cover all three non-uniform dates this year). As the non-uniform day is in support of Just One Tree day (click here) we are encouraging pupils to wear a green item on the day. The day will be a normal school day and therefore pupils must dress appropriately, for example, pupils must wear clothing that covers their midriff and avoid strappy tops and high-heeled shoes. Any make-up or jewellery must be subtle and there can be no offensive logos/wording on clothing. Should pupils arrive in clothing that is not appropriate, we will ask families to drop off a change of clothes and pupils will be out of circulation until they are able to change.
Today is World Mental Health Day (as you can see this week's newsletter has gone yellow for this reason). The theme this year is ‘access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies’, highlighting the importance of people being able to protect their mental health in times of global instability. Pupils have been receiving assemblies and engaged with key personal development themes including Self-Awareness, Resilience, Positive Mental Health, and Empathy. MyZone has also enabled pupils to focus on personal development and you can read more on this provision further on in this newsletter.
Finally, I wish you all a lovely weekend.
