Updates for the Parents/Carers of Christ’s College Finchley
Good luck with your exams
Dear families,
It has been lovely to welcome pupils back this week for the final half term of the academic year. Pupils in Years 11 and 13 continue with their public examinations and they have been impressive with their hard work and conduct. We are also starting to welcome our incoming Year 6-7 pupils and senior staff have been visiting primary schools to meet our Year 7 cohort for September 2025 and the year group are all invited to our team building afternoon on Tuesday 17th June 2025.
Trips and visits
There have been a number of exciting trips and visits this half term already and I am sure families will enjoy reading about these in this week’s and next week’s ITL. A group of pupils in Year 9 attended a Science and Technology Challenge Day on Monday where they took part in a range of activities and we are very proud to share that a number of the groups won prizes for their work. On Tuesday two groups of Year 10 pupils took part in a walking tour of Notting Hill linked to their History GCSE and more Year 10 History pupils will be taking part in this trip next week. A group of Year 10 pupils also took part in a visit to Christ Church College at the University of Oxford on Wednesday to learn more about higher education and a group of Year 10 pupils are today finishing their Duke of Edinburgh practice bronze expedition. Yesterday, a group of Year 7 pupils took part in Earthfest, where they engaged in workshops looking at biodiversity and sustainability. As ever, I am grateful to the staff at CCF who ensure that our pupils have a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom.
Funding and building work
I am sure that parents/carers are aware of the impact of cuts on school’s budgets over the past few years and the communication from the Department for Education (DfE) indicates that these pressures will be continuing over the coming years. I am always keen to look for opportunities for further funding and am pleased to share that we have been successful in our bid for funding to replace the roof over the DT block, which is the oldest part of the school, and this work will begin in the summer holidays. We are also refurbishing one of the Science laboratories over the summer and have applied for funding to refurbish two more laboratories next year.
Warmer weather
I know the weather this week has been variable to say the least and it looks like we may have warmer weather towards the end of next week. I will keep families informed should temperatures indicate that we may need to adjust the school uniform.

Please ensure that you notify the school via info@ccfplus.com if your contact details, including address, phone number and email address have changed, so that we can keep in contact with you.
Thank a Teacher
Wednesday 18th June 2025 is Thank a Teacher day and should parents/carers wish to send a thank you to an individual member of staff or group, please click here to complete the short form which sends a thank you card to the school email address and I know that teachers and support staff will greatly appreciate the gesture.
Finally, I would like to wish all members of the school community a lovely weekend and Eid Mubarak to those who celebrate.
