Updates for the Parents/Carers of Christ’s College Finchley
Dear families,
Firstly I am grateful to pupils and parents for your support in ensuring that pupils continued to meet our high expectations despite the hot weather and the extreme heat at the start of the week. Next week is Sports Week and pupils should wear PE kit throughout the week as they take part in a number of sports activities over the course of the week.
Year 6-7 induction day
Yesterday was transition day for the Year 6 pupils who will be our Year 7 cohort in September and it was lovely to welcome the pupils who spent the day meeting key staff and getting to know all about life at CCF including taking part in taster lessons.
Staffing update
I am pleased to share that, from September, Mr Zanjani will be Head of Year for the current Year 7 and Mr Frate is now Head of Year for the current Year 9 pupils. Ms Ireland will be Head of Year for the incoming Year 7 pupils (current Year 6 pupils) and Mr Gough will be Assistant Headteacher from September. Mr Baron will continue to be Head of Year to the current Year 8 pupils and Mr Depala to the current Year 10 pupils.
Safety
We had a fire drill this morning and the overwhelming majority of pupils were exemplary in their conduct and in following staff instructions as part of this important exercise.
I would like to remind parents of the importance of speaking to your child about their social media accounts. We are aware of some accounts being set up on TikTok in particular that appear to be linked to CCF and would remind families that pupils who bring the school into disrepute, including by mentioning school staff on social media, could face a high-level sanction, as outlined in our behaviour policy.
I would also ask parents to remind pupils who use local buses of the importance of behaving politely when queueing and boarding buses, and to remember to allow other passengers who may require more support to board the bus first. Thank you for your support with these matters.
Trips and visits
The Spanish trip returned earlier this week after a fantastic trip visiting historical and cultural parts of Spain and enjoying the sunshine. Year 9 pupils left for China on Tuesday in order to spend ten days immersed in Chinese language and culture. Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award pupils have been on their expedition in the Lake District this week and have had the full spectrum of weather over their trip. We have also had trips more locally including a Science trip to London Zoo on Monday, a tennis competition on Wednesday and our Sports Leaders have continued to support local primary schools during their Sports Days. I hope families enjoy reading about these and other aspects of life at CCF in this and future ITL and I would like to remind parents to follow the school’s instagram account for regular updates (@christscollegefinchley).
Finally, I would like to wish you all a lovely weekend.
Dr Ruth Hill
