John Paul II School will be blessed for all eternity because of a recent gift to the Mitchell Foundation for Catholic Education.
In December of 2016, Kenny Wittstruck, husband of the late Mary Jo Wittstruck established an endowment for the school in the memory of his wife. John Paul II School will be blessed for all eternity because of his gift. Mary Jo was a saint in the making. She truly had a heart of gold and left an imprint on the heart of countless people who encountered her, especially during her past sixteen years working as the office manager for Holy Spirit Parish in Mitchell. John Paul II School, its staff and students held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed being so near and was extremely supportive during her earthly life, so it made sense that her legacy would live on through the perpetual support of the school.
Anyone may contribute to this endowment at any time and in any amount. Annual distributions will be used for the greatest needs of John Paul II School.
+ Mary Jo Wittstruck was born in Madison, SD on August 7, 1950 to Harold and Marie (Bode) Gosmire. Mary Jo graduated from Canova High School in 1968, and then attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. She was employed for 22 years at the Delaney Clinic in Mitchell and finished her career working her dream job as secretary/bookkeeper at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish for the past 16 years. In August of 1973 she married Gary Faber, with Gary passing away in November of 1998. She married Kenneth Wittstruck in July of 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Kenny; 4 siblings: Phyllis (Rich) Schager, LuAnn (Bill) Thommes, Ted Gosmire, and Kathy (Charlie) Zens; brothers-in-law, Dwight Wittstruck and Reginald "Shorty" (Kathy) Faber; sister-in-law, Linda Thompson, uncle, Howard Powers and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and her mothers and fathers-in-law.

An endowment fund is a perpetual fund, created by charitable donations in the form of cash, stocks, mutual funds, real property, or other personal property given to the Foundation. The practice of investing the principal, rather than spending it, creates a perpetual fund. Most of an endowment’s annual earnings are distributed to the designated benefactors, in this case, John Paul II School. Endowments provide a “forever-giving” funding source for Catholic programs and activities. A gift in your will could establish an endowment and a lasting legacy for you, your family, and benefactor.
