John Paul II School PTO Scholarship Endowment

The John Paul II School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) awards an annual one- time $500 scholarship to an alumni of John Paul II School. To qualify the student must be graduating from Mitchell Sr High or Mitchell Christian School and attending an accredited college, vocational/technical school or university in the fall semester. The student also must have attended John Paul II School for a minimum of three years, and must have graduated from sixth grade at John Paul II.

The intent of the scholarship is twofold. The PTO wishes to promote Catholic Education within the city of Mitchell, and also aid in the continuing education of students who have graduated from John Paul II School.

Applications are due by April 15 each year and can be found at: www.johnpaul2.org

In 2013 the John Paul II PTO established the PTO Scholarship Endowment with the Mitchell Catholic Foundation. The hope is that as the endowment grows the scholarship amount will grow, and to one day be able to grant multiple scholarships. Please click the secure donation button below to make a contribution. An endowment fund is a perpetual fund, created by charitable donations in the form of cash, stocks, mutual funds, real property, or other personal property given to the Foundation. The practice of investing the principal, rather than spending it, creates a perpetual fund. Most of an endowment’s annual earnings are distributed to the designated benefactors, in this case, John Paul II School. Endowments provide a “forever-giving” funding source for Catholic programs and activities. A gift in your will could establish an endowment and a lasting legacy for you, your family, and benefactor.

If you would like information on how you can leave a lasting legacy for yourself or a loved one, call the MCF office to set up an appointment at 605-999-9127.
