Every other year, the descendants of Clifford (Jack) and Margaret Young gather to celebrate family. The summer of June of 2010 was no different. That summer over 120+ family members gathered at Mahoney State Park in Nebraska, including all thirteen of their children. Though Jack and Margaret have since passed, they all look forward to these reunions. Family and Faith were the backbone of their household. Jack attended Notre Dame school in Mitchell, as did all of their children. At one time, Margaret was even a cook at Holy Spirit School. It was at that family reunion in 2010, the decision was made by their children to establish a named endowment in their parents memory and honor. The Jack and Margaret Young Family Endowment was formed to help carry on the tradition of faith and family that they instilled in their children and grandchildren. Today their great- grandchildren are afforded the same opportunity for a wonderful Catholic Education they so believed in. By establishing this endowment, the family will carry on the tradition of excellence in Catholic Education for many generations to come. Thank you to the entire Young family for your legacy of faith!
An endowment fund is a perpetual fund, created by charitable donations in the form of cash, stocks, mutual funds, real property, or other personal property given to the Foundation. The practice of investing the principal, rather than spending it, creates a perpetual fund. Most of an endowment’s annual earnings are distributed to the designated benefactors, in this case, John Paul II School. Endowments provide a “forever-giving” funding source for Catholic programs and activities. A gift in your will could establish an endowment and a lasting legacy for you, your family, and benefactor.
