It was in Cru's passion to grow in love and knowledge of the Lord and their passion for the lost that motivated me to join Cru. Being involved in Cru allowed me to grow in faith and be able to understand what it really means to value relationships with other people. I was able to learn to share the Gospel to others and be aware of my identity in Christ. Being involved in Cru, especially being on staff, allowed me to grow in leadership and respect as well.

During my GCTC training, I learned a lot from my trainer. She taught me what it means to build disciples through life to life. She took care of me and guided me all throughout my training journey and allowed me to experience what it means to help reach the target area as a team.

It was through Cru that I came to know the saving knowledge of who Jesus Christ is which led me to one of the best decisions I ever made: to receive Him as my Saviour and Lord when I was in college. As I got involved in the community, I saw how the Lord was making changes in the lives of the students in our university, those who are being saved, and even in the lives of the student leaders and staff. To witness and be involved in leading people to Christ makes my heart leap with joy up until now. Through Cru, I was encouraged and equipped on how to share my faith with others and how I could live the Christian life meaningfully.
Cru Community had a lot of contributions to who I am now. Even though at first I was an awkward person, they never hesitated to reach out and care for me. They were very intentional in building and adding value to me and becoming accountable to my growth holistically (social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual) as God’s child. They journeyed with me in my walk of life when I was a student 8 years ago, and even until now. I am comfortable talking about my difficulties in life because they love and accept me, and they celebrate with me even the small wins that I had. When God found me, he gave me a loving and caring community outside that I can call family in Christ.

I was invited to attend a life objective seminar (LOS) when I was in my graduating year. There I learned that only three things last - God, His people and His word. So I wanted to invest my life with eternal values. But I told God I will give Him the first 5 years of my life after graduation and use my career to do His will. I got involved in the professional world and did my part in doing the Great Commission as a professional. However, God led me to reconsider full time Christian work to be fully used by Him. I wanted to be in the center of His will so I applied with Cru and was accepted.
Knowing that I'm doing the things He wanted me to do brings me joy and fulfillment in life. I'm just amazed how I see God bless me with His grace, provision, relationships and influence not only here in Manila but in other key cities of the world. I’m excited to be sent to reach out and train others with the gospel.

Most memorable experiences: having a strong community that is like family within Cru; opportunities to be entrusted into leadership responsibilities (leading teams in different areas) that made me trust God more, get out of my comfort zones, and be fruitful in the ministry. Another one is the opportunities given to us to pursue development through studies (Toastmasters, MDiv, Masters, DMiss, PhD for my wife Bing). Enjoyed also the freedom to pursue God-given vision and passion within Cru (FamilyLife).

First, it was clear that God called me to serve God with Cru, with the vision and the desire that God has placed in my heart. Cru’s vision, mission, and equipping affirms what God has called me to do; to love God and love others. Cru encourages high accountability, It was with Cru that I was journeyed intentionally in my growth holistically. Community, the joy of working and engaging with people of diversity yet offers a family-like environment. A working community that encourages walking with God to be the top most priority has greatly helped me grow in my desire and intentionality to cultivate my love for God. Working with people of diversity has also contributed to my growth in valuing God-given relationships, serving others in any way I can, growth in having a healthy self-image and most especially growth in leadership; It was with Cru that God has also exposed me to different places and people groups through missions where my compassion and love for the lost has grown. Amazingly, there were also many opportunities to serve God with Cru in different capacities and fields, where my strengths, skills and gifts were maximized to serve God and others; and opportunities to grow and work on my weaknesses lovingly.

What led me to pursue a Career change and become a missionary is the great need for more workers in the harvest field while being exposed to many urban and rural mission opportunities as an active member of CCC Professional ministry while working in Ateneo that time. There was this strong desire in my heart to be one of those who would answer that need. I could not say no to that urgent need amidst the great challenge of financial setback that our family was experiencing at that time. For me saying no to the One who saved and personally called me would mean not trusting Him at all that He can provide for all my needs and the needs of my loved ones. Raising support was for me the toughest hurdle that I had to face but I saw myself taking baby steps of faith to heed His call. And He did provide and is continually providing for the past 33 years of serving Him in CRU more than I could ever think or imagine.
The rewards of joining CRU are countless but I would mention four major things which matter most to me. First, is a strong sense of confidence, joy and peace that I am at the center of His will, born and appointed as one of those who are specifically called to serve Him in CRU. Second is the blessing of being in a community where a strong sense of accountability is pursued which is keeping me in step with God by His grace amidst imperfectness. Third, are the many opportunities the Lord has opened for me to be trained and developed as a person specially in the area of spiritual leadership not only locally but even abroad, last but not the least is the reward of gaining quality, God-edifying and deep friendships among colleagues, people outside CRU and with those whom God brought into my life to reach and disciple for Him.
