What to expect

Year Three Overview

Year three focuses on working with students at nearby schools, including weekly visits to Baker Place Elementary and Columbia Middle School. In this class, students are exposed to various classrooms and teaching styles, helping them develop their unique teaching approach.

In addition to internship experiences, students will attend field trips with the Future Georgia Educators and participate in TAP Talks hosted by Columbia County. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have over 30 hours of classroom experience and will receive credit for EDUC 2110, a 3-credit college course.

Course Description: 

The practicum offers a candidate in the Teaching as a Profession career pathway a field experience under the direct supervision of a certified teacher (mentor teacher). The practicum stresses observing, analyzing and classifying activities of the mentor teacher and comparing personal traits with those of successful teachers. The candidate intern will develop a portfolio of their skills, plan and teach a lesson or lessons, understand and practice confidentiality as it pertains to the teaching profession, meet the needs of students with special needs, maintain the safety of the students, practice professionalism, and demonstrate ethical behavior. 

About Ms. Braun

Ms. Braun is a Math teacher, as well as the instructor for the Year 3 TAP class. 

Ms. Braun holds her Year 3 students in high regard as they work with teachers and students from nearby elementary and middle schools. She is dedicated to maintaining this high standard of excellence and encouraging future teachers to join the profession!
