What to Expect?

Year Two Overview

In the second year, students will build on the skills they developed in their first year. They will continue similar assignments on the Grovetown High School campus and begin working at nearby schools, such as Baker Place Elementary and Columbia Middle School, where they will present lessons and their work to various audiences.

Year two students also have the option to participate in field trips with third-year students, including "TAP Talks" and "FGE Days." Throughout the year, students will gain a clearer understanding of the grades and subjects they are interested in teaching, better preparing them for the assignments in the next TAP year.

COurse Description

This course engages the candidate in observations, interactions, and analyses of critical and contemporary educational issues. The candidate will investigate issues influencing the social and political contexts of educational settings in Georgia and the United States and actively examines the teaching profession from multiple vantage points both within and outside of the school. Against this backdrop, the candidate will reflect on and interpret the meaning of education and schooling in a diverse culture and examine the moral and ethical responsibilities of teaching in a democracy. (Mastery of standards through project based learning, technical skills practice, and leadership development activities of the career and technical student organization Future Educators of America (FEA) will provide students with a competitive edge for either entry into the education global marketplace and/or the post-secondary institution of their choice to continue their education and training.)

About Mrs. Hamilton

Mrs. Hamilton is the instructor for the TAP Year 2 class, as well as teaching Visual Arts and the TAP Year 1 Class

Mrs. Hamilton is always finding fun ways to teach contemporary issues in education with her students. Students will work in groups to make presentations and share complete lessons with their class. They visit the elementary and middle school monthly in addition to their classroom visits around Grovetown's campus.
