Class Rules and Expectations
Be respectful to me and the other students. I will show respect for you, and I expect the same in return, not only to me, but also to your fellow classmates.
When the bell rings, be in your seat ready to begin the lesson.
There will be no walking around the classroom during instructional time.
You may not use cellphones in school. Unauthorized use of devices will result in a lunch detention for the first offense and then an office referral there after..
Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed at school.
Expect make up work to be your responsibility. You need to ask me what you have missed. If you are absent the day before a test or a quiz, expect to take it the day you come back.
Students are expected and permitted to make up missed assignments from excused absences & tardies only. Missed assignments must be made up within 5 days of returning to school.
Homework
EdPuzzles and projects are not there to punish you, but for you to practice your Spanish. EdPuzzles will be checked on the due date and will receive a score. If they are not turned in, an alternate assignment will be given to earn a replacement grade.
Academic Integrity
I take cheating very seriously. The following acts are considered honor code violations in my classroom: copying or sharing homework, using an electronic translator or internet translation site for a formal writing assignment, communicating with anyone during a test or quiz, and asking another Spanish student, tutor, or native speaker to complete an assignment. Any violation of Academic Integrity per Code of Conduct will result in a grade designation of “M” for Missing which averages as a 0 and a referral to administration.
Late Work
Students will not be penalized on the gradebook for late work. However, students will still be held accountable (at teacher’s discretion) via parent contact, conference(s), detention(s) and for repeat offenders an office referral will be made.
Assessment
Your grade will be calculated using a total point system with the following categories:
Assessments – 60%
Formatives- 40%
Retake of an Assessment
Only students who have completed the following steps will qualify for a retake of an assessment: (1) a self-assessment, (2) come in for a tutoring session(s) and (3) submit all missing homework.
I am looking forward to a great year!
