Materials—Please bring to class every day.
Spanish 3-ring binder with paper or a notebook, a notebook for warm up activities, Pen/Pencil, and homework. Index cards will be needed for making flash cards each unit.
Class Rules & Expectations
You are held accountable for all expectations in the Code of Conduct. Be prepared with ALL materials.
Be seated when the bell rings. Expect to work and be challenged. Expect to speak a lot, and in Spanish. (It is a Spanish class.)
Make up work is your responsibility. Quizzes & tests are taken the day students return from absences.
You may not use cellphones in school. Unauthorized use of devices will result in a lunch detention for the first offense and then an office referral there after..
Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed at school.
Homework
Homework will be assigned Friday afternoon for completion the following week. I use EdPuzzles to practice listening comprehension and reinforce what we are learning in class. It is important to complete these assignments as success in a 2nd language depends on practicing and using the language outside of class. If you do not complete the assignment by the due date, an alternate assignment will be given.
Academic Integrity
I take cheating seriously. Any violation of Academic Integrity per Code of Conduct will result in a grade designation of “M” for Missing which averages as a 0 and a referral to administration.
Assessment
Your grade will be calculated using a total point system with the following categories:
Summatives – 60%
Formatives- 40%
Retake of an Assessment
Only students who have completed the following steps will qualify for a retake: a self-assessment of possible improvements in regard to study habits, come in for a tutoring session(s) and submit all missing homework.
Late Work
Students will not be penalized on the gradebook for late work. However, students will still be held accountable (at teacher’s discretion) via parent contact, conference(s), detention(s) and for repeat offenders, an office referral will be made.
Tutoring
Tutoring will be held before or after school by appointment. Students that wish to attend tutoring must know what they need help with. I will not teach the entire lesson over again, as it is the responsibility of the student to pay attention in class and ask questions for clarification as we go along. Students need to have questions prepared.
